Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 30, 2026

At Matren Limited, the company that provides RedactorFlow software, your privacy is our top priority. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our desktop document redaction application. RedactorFlow is a desktop application with 100% desktop document processing. We are committed to GDPR compliance and implementing industry-leading security practices.

Local Processing

All documents are processed 100% locally on your computer. Your documents remain on your machine and are not uploaded to any server.

Transparency

We clearly communicate what data we collect and how it's used, with no hidden practices.

No User Login Required

RedactorFlow doesn't require user accounts or login credentials. Payment is processed by Paddle (direct downloads) or Apple (Mac App Store), and we only store your subscription status.

Complete Control

Your documents stay on your device under your complete control. You can delete them at any time, and you manage your subscription through Paddle.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Payment Information

RedactorFlow does not require user login or store user credentials. Depending on how you obtained the application, payment is handled by one of two third-party providers and we never see your full payment card details:

  • Direct download (redactorflow.com): Payment is processed by Paddle(Privacy Policy). Paddle collects and processes your payment information (name, email, billing address, payment method) in accordance with their privacy policy. We receive only a transaction ID and subscription status from Paddle to activate your license.
  • Mac App Store: Payment is processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store, and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the terms of your Apple ID. Apple collects your billing details and provides the application with an opaque, signed transaction identifier. We send that identifier to Apple's App Store Server API solely to verify the transaction and activate your subscription on your device. We do not receive your name, email address, billing address, or payment method from Apple.

1.2 Document Data

All document processing happens 100% locally on your computer. Your documents stay on your machine and are not uploaded to our servers or any cloud service. Documents and redacted PDFs are stored only on your local device. We have no access to your document content. The desktop application works completely offline after license activation.

1.3 License and Usage Information

The desktop application stores your subscription status and license information locally on your device. Optional crash reports and error diagnostics may be sent to help us improve the application, but these do not contain document content or personally identifiable information.

1.4 Technical Information

The desktop application may collect basic technical information (operating system version, application version) for compatibility and troubleshooting purposes. This is stored locally and not transmitted unless you explicitly submit a support request.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Activate and manage your software license
  • Process subscription payments via Paddle
  • Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries
  • Improve the desktop application and develop new features
  • Ensure security and prevent fraud
  • Comply with legal obligations

Note: All document processing happens locally on your machine. We do not receive, store, or process your document content.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your documents are stored locally on your computer only. We implement security measures for the limited data we do collect:

  • Encrypted communication between the application and license servers
  • Secure license activation via Paddle's payment infrastructure
  • Local encryption of license information stored on your device
  • No cloud storage or transmission of your documents
  • Regular security updates to the desktop application

Your documents remain under your complete control on your local machine. You can delete them at any time.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Since your documents stay on your computer, we have no document data to share. We may share limited information only in the following circumstances:

  • Payment Provider (Paddle) — direct downloads: Payment and subscription information is processed by Paddle.com, our third-party payment processor. Paddle handles all payment transactions and stores your billing information in accordance with their privacy policy. We receive only transaction IDs and subscription status from Paddle to activate your license. For more information, see Paddle's Privacy Policy. This applies whether you obtained RedactorFlow as a direct download or from the Microsoft Store; Microsoft does not process subscription payments for RedactorFlow.
  • Apple — Mac App Store distribution: If you obtained RedactorFlow from the Mac App Store, Apple distributes the application, processes your payment, and manages your subscription. Apple's data handling is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy. The application sends a transaction identifier issued by StoreKit to Apple's App Store Server API to validate your purchase and entitlement; this exchange is between the application on your device and Apple's servers. The application also reports anonymous crash and usage diagnostics to Apple only if you have opted into sharing diagnostics with app developers in your Mac's privacy settings.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government regulation to protect our rights or comply with legal processes
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your subscription information may be transferred to the new entity

5. Your Rights and Choices

Under GDPR and other privacy regulations, you have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Data Portability: Request transfer of your data to another service provider
  • Objection: Object to certain types of processing of your personal information
  • Restriction: Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances
  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent where we rely on consent as the legal basis for processing

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

6. Data Retention

We retain minimal information for as long as necessary to provide licensing services and comply with legal obligations:

  • Subscription Information: Retained while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, tax, and audit purposes
  • Documents: All documents remain on your local computer only. We do not store your documents on our servers, so we have nothing to delete.
  • License Information: Stored locally on your device and automatically removed when you uninstall the application
  • Support Logs: If you submit support requests, related logs are retained for 12 months for troubleshooting purposes

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The RedactorFlow desktop application does not use cookies or tracking technologies. Our website may use minimal cookies for:

  • Analyzing website traffic (anonymized)
  • Remembering download preferences

The desktop application itself does not track your usage beyond optional crash reports and diagnostics that you can disable in settings.

8. Mac App Store Distribution

This section applies only when you download RedactorFlow from the Mac App Store. The Mac App Store version is identical in functionality to the direct download, with two distribution-specific differences:

  • In-App Purchases (StoreKit): Subscriptions are sold and renewed through Apple's in-app purchase system. The purchase sheet, payment authorisation, billing, refunds, and subscription cancellation are all handled by Apple. You can view, change, or cancel your subscription at any time from System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
  • Receipt validation: When you complete a purchase, StoreKit returns a signed transaction identifier to the application. The application transmits this identifier to Apple's App Store Server API over HTTPS to confirm the purchase is genuine and active, and then activates your local Pro license. No document content, file metadata, or other personal information is included in this request.
  • App sandbox: The Mac App Store version runs inside Apple's App Sandbox. Documents you open are accessed through user-initiated file pickers (security-scoped bookmarks); the application has no general access to your file system.
  • Auto-renewing subscriptions: Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in line with Apple's standard auto-renewable subscription terms. Renewal is processed by Apple, not by Matren Limited.
  • What we receive from Apple: A signed transaction identifier and the resulting subscription status (active / expired / refunded). We do not receive your name, Apple ID, email address, billing address, or payment method.

For details of how Apple processes your data in connection with the App Store and in-app purchases, please refer to the Apple Privacy Policy.

9. International Data Transfers

Your documents stay on your computer and are not subject to international data transfer.Payment processing is handled by Paddle (direct downloads) or Apple (Mac App Store), both of which operate globally and comply with applicable data protection laws including GDPR. License verification may involve communication with servers in different jurisdictions, but this communication only includes your subscription status and transaction identifier, not document content.

10. Children's Privacy

Our services are not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
